A Tribute to King Oyo: A Dear Friend and a LeaderIt is with a heavy heart and profound sorrow that I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of the late King Oyo. To the world, he was a revered leader, a beacon of cultural heritage, and a dedicated servant to his people. But to me, before all of his titles and royal duties, he was my best friend.Our paths crossed during our formative years at Aga Khan International School, a time when the weights of our futures were just distant thoughts. In the classrooms and hallways of Aga Khan, I was privileged to know the boy behind the crown. He was a young man of immense warmth, humility, and an infectious sense of humor. Despite the grand destiny awaiting him, he walked among us as an equal, offering a genuine kindness and an open heart to everyone he met.The memories we shared during those school days are treasures I will hold close for the rest of my life. I remember his laughter, his quiet wisdom, and the unwavering loyalty he showed.
With profound sadness and a heavy heart, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family, the Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, and all the subjects of the Tooro Kingdom. King Oyo was a visionary, humble, and dedicated leader who served his people with dignity for over three decades. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant the kingdom comfort and unity during this difficult time. Empowering the youth, supporting annual health campaigns that provided free medical services to the local community and a lot more good things he has done for his people. His presence and leadership touched many lives, and therefore his passing leaves a deep void in our hearts. His legacy of unity, culture, and service will forever remain in our hearts. The demise of Omukama of Tooro comes at a time when he had started accelerating digital transformation for the growth of the Kingdom.
