How heartbreaking! I offer my deepest condolences on the passing of His Majesty, the Omukama of Tooro. His Majesty’s reign was marked by dedication to his people, the preservation of the rich culture and heritage of Tooro, and an unwavering commitment to unity and development. His leadership, wisdom, and gentle presence will be deeply missed, not only within the Kingdom but across Uganda. My prayers are with the Royal Family, especially Queen Mother Best Kemigisa and Princess Ruth Komuntale and all the Abatooro during this time of mourning. May the proud history and resilience of the Kingdom provide comfort in the days ahead, and may His Majesty’s legacy continue to inspire generations to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

It is with deep sorrow that I mourn the passing of His Majesty King Oyo, the King of Tooro. He was not only a remarkable leader but also a truly humble human being. I had the privilege of encountering him during one of my Christmas holidays in his beautiful land, Fort Portal — “heaven on earth.” While watching an Arsenal game at the Mountain of the Moon Hotel, he sat right beside me. At the time, I did not know who he was, for he never introduced himself as a king. He was simply an Arsenal fan, sharing the joy of the match. Only when he left did I realize that I had spent that moment chatting with the youngest living king. My deepest condolences go to the Queen Mother Best Kemigisa Akiiki, the Queen of Tooro, his wife, his family, and the entire Batooro people. Africa has lost one of its greatest sons. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
